The SEI Standard · Framework

The 15 KPIs. One integrated framework.

Measurable performance indicators that turn good intentions into trusted evidence. Every criterion in the Core Mandatory Layer and in the Activity Modules reports against one of these fifteen, so an organisation of any size is measured on the same terms.

01

Governance & Legal Compliance

Responsible leadership, clear policies and demonstrable compliance.

02

Communication & Transparency

Open reporting, honest claims and accessible communication.

03

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Measure operational emissions, set achievable reduction targets.

04

Energy Efficiency & Use

Reduce demand, improve efficiency and transition toward renewable energy.

05

Horse Welfare

Put the physical and mental wellbeing of every horse first.

06

Ecosystems & Biodiversity

Protect habitats, improve ecological value and manage equestrian land.

07

Fresh Water Resources

Use clean water thoughtfully, prevent avoidable waste.

08

Social & Cultural Responsibility

Create safe, fair and inclusive environments.

09

Economic Responsibility

Build financially resilient operations through responsible planning.

10

Air Quality Protection

Limit dust, emissions and harmful airborne substances.

11

Wastewater Control

Safely manage drainage, runoff and wastewater.

12

Solid Waste Handling

Prevent waste, reuse materials and separate disposal streams.

13

Environmentally Harmful Substances

Identify, reduce and securely manage chemicals.

14

Land Use & Infrastructure Impact

Plan arenas, stables and routes to minimise long-term pressure.

15

Future Sustainability Development

Set measurable ambitions, review progress and improve.

Where the indicators apply

The same fifteen, across every module

The Core Mandatory Layer applies to every organisation. The Activity Modules add the requirements that match what the organisation actually does. Both report against the same fifteen indicators, which is what makes results comparable between a riding school, a stud and an event organiser.
